Anthony Kane Baker

BAKER--Anthony Kane, 65, of Palm Beach, FL, and Mill Neck, NY, on July 9, 2008. Son of George F. Baker, Jr. and Frances Drexel Munn Baker. Devoted father to Asia Alexandra and Callie Frances Victoria. Brother of the late George F. Baker III, Pauline Baker Pitt, Lavinia Baker Logan and Kane Kendall Baker. A graduate of Brooks School and Trinity College. He was a trustee of Brooks School, Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities, Society of the Four Arts, Quebec-Labrador Foundation and senior trustee of The George F. Baker Trust, a foundation established in 1942 by his grandfather that supports educational, medical and civic concerns. His great-grandfather, George F. Baker, helped found the First National Bank in New York City in 1863 and was instrumental in the establishment of the Harvard Business School and several university libraries including the Baker Library at Dartmouth College. He co-authored "Long Island Country Houses and their Architects 1860-1940" and was an authority on architectural preservation. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, at 3pm, at St. John's of Lattingtown Church, Locust Valley, NY. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities or to CARP, West Palm Beach, FL.
