ANGELL--Callie. The Board of Trustees and Staff of the Whitney Museum of American Art mourn with great sorrow the sudden passing of Callie Angell, Adjunct Curator of the Andy Warhol Film Project. Callie was an invaluable colleague, joining the Museum in 1979 as an assistant curator of Film and Video. With a quiet demeanor, yet a strong presence, Callie's profound intellect, intuitive sense and tenacious research made her study of the legendary artist Andy Warhol indispensable to the appreciation of contemporary culture. Thanks to her passion and scholarship, she has left us an enduring resource with the first volume of the catalogue raisonne of the films of Andy Warhol. A member of an illustrious literary family, she was a gifted writer and editor. Her passing has left a void in the New York art world. She will be truly missed.
