We write to express our deepest sympathy to Mr. Arnhold's family and friends. We also want to share our gratitude for the opportunity to know and work with him through his active role at The New School.
Within the university's economics department, we work with Willi Semmler, the Henry H. Arnhold Professor of International Cooperation and Development in the Department of Economics at The New School for Social Research (NSSR). His work supports our efforts to build vital research and conversation at the intersection of economics and climate change. Over the years, we were proud to host Mr. Arnhold as a guest at many of these seminars.
We are honored to have had the opportunity to share in this journey with Mr. Arnhold. We were touched by his curiosity, dedication and generosity. His distinct intellectual legacy will continue to echo at The New School in our continued work and in many, many ways in the years to come.

Henry was a mensche who overcame the worst of humanity and made a life here for his wife and children and a legacy of love and good deeds. He outlived all his friends but knew he had made a difference and helped many. His memory is a blessing to all who knew him as Grandpa,Dad or the Boss. My sympathy to all of you.

May his life be celebrated through the many lives that he touched with his warm & generous personality. May you celebrate a life well lived and cherish the memories created over the years you spent together. Please find comfort and peace and accept God's loyal love because he cares for you. I had the honor of working for the Arnhold's for over a decade. Mr. Arnhold's counsel was wise, his advice thoughtful and the opportunity he provided tremendous. My family and I morn his passing.

I would like to express my deepest and heartfelt condolences to Henry's family. He was one of my father Walter Wolff's oldest friends from boarding school in St. Moritz before the war.
In the strangest of coincidences, THe New School bought my father's building at 55 West 13th Street which as you know became Arnhold Hall. Two surviving refugees legacies brought together at one address.
I had the privilege of meeting with Henry before I spoke at the United Nations in 2017 on International Holocaust Remembrance Day. We also crossed paths several times while I was writing my book "Someday You Will Understand: My father's Private WWII". The first time was when he stopped me in Washington when I delivered the keynote speech at the 7oth Year Anniversary of The Ritchie Boys.
I mentioned him several times throughout my book because the two would also run into each other while serving in the US army during the war. In another coincidence, several surviving refugees reconnected once they arrived in New York when they ran into each other on the subway.
He was a lovely man and fond of my father. I honor his life and his memory.
Warmly,
Nina Wolff
