GOLLANCE--Robert B., M.D.

Robert B. Gollance M.D., 78, beloved father, of Wayne, NJ and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away on January 20, 2016. He was an avid photographer who traveled extensively to places such as Africa, the North and South Poles, and The Galapagos Islands. He was on a photography excursion in Asia at the time of his passing. Dr. Gollance was born in Brooklyn, attended Harvard College, and Columbia Medical School. He served as a captain in the Army in Seoul, Korea, where he established Korea's first eye bank. He was a distinguished Ophthalmologist loved by generations of his patients. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor. He was pre-deceased by his devoted wife of 44 years, Carmen (Cote) Gollance. He is survived by his son, Stephen Gollance M.D., who will carry on the practice. He is also survived by his daughter in law, Dana Gollance and his sister, Barbara Smoliar. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Dr. Robert Gollance to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY, 10028 or through their website, Proceeds will be used for photography acquisition. A private memorial will be held.
