BRODER--Carley, age 63, on February 25, encircled by loved ones, from lung disease. Originally from Rumson, NJ, Carley was a devoted Upper West Sider, living near Lincoln Center to feed her love of all things ballet. A gifted communicator, Carley championed justice and equality. A cherished daughter of the late Gloria Waldman Appel and Marvin and Lois Broder, and sister to Michael (Rita Rubin), Betsy (David Wentworth) and the late Chip (Celeste Hoppey-Broder). She also leaves her beloved siblings from the Stern and Appel families, adored nieces and nephews, and devoted friends. Contributions in her honor can be made to Project Plie, American Ballet Theater, 890 Broadway, NY, NY, 10003. Memorial service at the Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, 630 Amsterdam Ave. on Sunday, March 2 at 2pm.
