ERNEST T. CAMPBELL

CAMPBELL--Ernest T. Dr., 86, passed away peacefully July 9, 2010. He was the son of Carolyn and William Campbell. He received his early education in the New York City public school system. He graduated from Bob Jones University and Princeton Theological Seminary. He served Presbyterian churches in Portland and Mt. Bethel, PA, Stroudsburg, PA, York, PA, and Ann Arbor, MI. He became a minister in the United Church of Christ and served as Senior Minister in the Riverside Church, New York City. He was a frequent speaker on The Protestant Hour and The National Radio Pulpit. He authored three books, a quarterly for preachers, and was a visiting lecturer at various seminaries including Garrett Evangelical Seminary. He had long been actively concerned for civil rights, the migrant worker, a humane national budget and fairer treatment for the LGBT community. He is survived by his wife Joan, brother Robert, sons David and Erik and stepsons Glenn and Craig Walsh. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepson Keith Walsh. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Habitat for Humanity.
