OSTROVE--Estelle. The Ostrove family is sad to announce the death of our beloved matriarch, Estelle Ostrove, who passed away on January 7th, 2021. Born in Waterville, Maine to Gertrude and Henry Jacobson, she attended Colby College where she met Paul Ostrove, of Paul Stuart renown. They had a loving devoted relationship for 49 years until Paul's passing. They moved to Roslyn, NY in 1961 and lived there ever since, although Estelle never lost her Maine accent. Her passion for social justice led to her efforts to lift up the less fortunate neighbors of her community through outreach initiatives like Camp Unity among others, a program to integrate black and white children in the 1960's. She was smart as a whip, as selfless as they come and she always remained completely down to earth. She possessed an impeccable moral character, her kindness, strength, fairness and generosity were all well known by those who loved her. She is survived by her brother Kenneth, sisters Ruth and Phyllis, her children Gail, Michael and David, their spouses, eight grandchildren, who called her Gaga, and one great-grandchild with another on the way. She set an example for all of us to emulate and follow and she will be terribly missed.
