Gloria Nader Mishkoff, wife of Walter Mishkoff, died peacefully in her home on July 1. Gloria hailed from Sydney, Australia, where she began her career as a singer and jazz pianist. She performed on radio ABC and often in nightclubs with Edwin Duff, a popular Australian singer and close friend. After World War II, she came to New York City, where she met and married Walter. Gloria continued her career in Manhattan as a vocal stylist, pianist and musical arranger, working with a wide variety of singers, musicians and students. Following the death of her husband in 1983, Gloria became increasingly active in volunteer work, especially at the Hudson Guild and with GMHC. Gloria leaves no immediate family, but will be long remembered and cherished by her many friends, students and relatives around the world. In song and style, she touched the lives of many.
