of Yarmouth and Pemaquid, ME, passed away on May 13, 2018 from complications of acute mylogenous leukemia. He was born August 2, 1932 in Brooklyn, attended Jamaica High School, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Queens College in 1954. After obtaining his MD (AOA) from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1958, he was a resident in pediatrics at Boston City Hospital and then a resident and chief resident in psychiatry at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (Harvard) from 1960 to 1963. He completed his psychoanalytic training at the Philadelphia Association for Psychoanalysis and was a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association. Dr. Beskind was in private practice in Princeton, NJ from the 1960s until 1984, when he moved his practice to Norwich, VT and later to Lebanon, NH. Upon retiring in 2001, he took up watercolor painting, a passion he actively pursued until his death (www.wildman harryart.com). Predeceased by his brother Martin (Mike) Beskind, Dr. Beskind is survived by his wife Virginia E. Swain of Yarmouth; his sons, Mark and Daniel; and his sister-in-law Rosemarie Beskind and nephew David Beskind. He also leaves five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Temple Bet Ha'am in South Portland, ME on May 30 at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date. Contributions in Harry's memory may be made to the Adult Leukemia Section of Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215, in honor of Dr. Richard M. Stone; or to Mercy Oncology Hematology Center, 195 Fore River Parkway, Portland, ME 04102.
