HELEN REISER

REISER--Helen Hollinger, 93, died peacefully on August 19, 2012, with family by her side. Born in New York City on February 9, 1919, she was a proud graduate of Lincoln H.S. in Brooklyn and was among the first women admitted to Baruch College. After graduating with distinction in 1940, her first job was at Balanced Foods, Inc., where she met her beloved husband, the late Samuel H. Reiser. While Sam served overseas in the military, Helen served as his eyes and ears back home, neither ever imaging that the fledgling health foods company would someday be the industry giant it later became. A loyal friend with a quick wit and a ready laugh, Helen was a lifelong New York City enthusiast, an ardent supporter of education and Jewish causes, and a heartfelt patron of the arts. Devoted mother of Rhona (and husband Grover Burgan), Amy, Melanie, and Paul (and wife Paula), she will also be sorely missed by her adored grandchildren Cora, Una, Ruby, Ezra and Leon. Burial will be private. In her memory, donations made to the Baruch College Fund.
