LEWIS--Joan M. Joan Miller Lewis, 100, died on January 10, 2019, at her home in Manhattan. A New Yorker all her life, Joan loved the City and worked for its benefit: she taught at the High School for the Performing Arts; she was an executive of The New York City School Volunteers Program; she was a proud graduate of Hunter College and was actively involved in the Scholarship and Welfare Association of which she became president. In 1990 she received the Award for Distinguished Service to the Hunter College Alumni Association and the College. Her beloved husband, George Lewis, died in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Lewis Cole, her son-in-law, Jonathan R. Cole, her grandchildren and their spouses, Daniel Cole and Nicholas Grinder, Susanna Cole and Gabriel Bach, and her great-granddaughters, Lydia Rose Bach and Charlotte Grace Bach. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on March 1st at 4:00 pm at The Lotos Club.
