Obituary

SHEVELL--Jon Lawrence, of New York City, passed away on March 3, 2008 while in Los Angeles. Jon was originally from Edison, NJ, and lived the last 25 years in New York City. Jon was the son of Myron P. Shevell and the late Arlene Walters Shevell. He is survived by his father, his sisters, Nancy Shevell and Susan Shevell Cohen, his niece, Merissa Cohen, his nephews, Zachary Walters Cohen and Arlen Walters Blakeman, his aunt, Janice Shevell Fischman and his brother-inlaw, Robert Cohen. Jon was a graduate of John P. Stevens High School in Edison, NJ, where he was an outstanding scholar athlete and was elected to the Alumni Hall of Fame. He also graduated from Tufts University where he excelled in basketball and earned his Master's Degree. He was Vice Chairman and a Director of the Shevell Group of Companies in Elizabeth, NJ, and was the recipient of numerous honors related to his professional and philanthropic endeavors.
