BORELLA--Jon Paul,

46, of Verona, passed away on November 30, 2017. He is predeceased by his mother, Sheila Borella, and is survived by his wife, Penny (Palevsky) Borella; daughter, Casey; father, Ed Borella; aunts, Carol Borella and Roberta Jennings, and her husband, Thomas; his uncle, Stephen Borella, and his wife, Renee; his in-laws, Frances, Stanley, and Keith Palevsky; and treasured friend, Loretta Ahlrich, all of whom he loved very much. After he graduated first in his class, Summa Cum Laude, from Georgetown University in 1993, JP worked for 14 years at JP Morgan, and then was employed for six years at Bank of America in their Global Investor Marketing divisions, before joining Ziff Brothers Investments as a Director in 2010. Jon Paul had a unique passion for life. He often arose before 4am and was intensely dedicated to his family and friends, his job, and the world of sports, particularly golf, hockey and his daily Stairmaster workout. We will all miss him very much. A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 10am-1pm at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, NJ:, followed by a Memorial Gathering at The Manor Restaurant, 111 Prospect Ave., West Orange, NJ from 3pm-6pm. A brief tribute will be made by family friends around 4pm. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in JP's memory to: Cycle for Survival, a fundraiser for rare cancer research that his daughter, Casey, is dedicated to (online at, or the 1789 - JP Borella Scholarship Fund at Georgetown University, set up by JP and Penny (online please designate it for the 1789 - JP Borella Scholarship Fund). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home during visitation hours.
