LINN--Louis, M.D. It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Dr. Louis Linn, internationally-renowned psychiatrist and beloved husband of Miriam, father of Judy and Robert, grandfather of David, Laura, Josh and Rebecca and great-grandfather of nine. He was a superb clinician and mentored generations of doctors. He was a professor of psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Medical Center from the late 1940s until his death and saw his last patient this past Monday. He contributed greatly to his field through extensive writing on psychosomatic medicine, disaster psychiatry, child development, psychoanalysis, psychiatric diagnosis, schizophrenia and community psychiatry. He was born May 14, 1914 in Newark, NJ and was sent to college and medical school by his five older siblings. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a psychiatrist participating in the North African campaign, continuing through Italy and then into France, arriving in Paris soon after its liberation. His love of life and his passion for science, music and literature will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. The funeral will be Sunday, September 6th at 11:45am at the Riverside Memorial Chapel at 180 West 76th Street.
