MARLA MEHLMAN Obituary

MEHLMAN--Marla R., passed away on December 19 after a ten-year battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her husband, Jon, daughters, Sarah, Jilly, and Aliza, and her immediate family. She was 51. Born in Flint, Michigan, Marla graduated from the University of Michigan. She and Jon raised their family in Scarsdale. Hip and tough as nails, yet sweet and generous, Marla was an extraordinary wife and mother. She was an avid runner, expert skier, baker (her banana cake is legendary), and Springsteen fan. She delighted in entertaining and traveling the world. Marla was a tireless advocate for breast cancer research. She was a pioneering patient in clinical trials that led to new discoveries. She served on the board of Sharsheret and was active with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Marla also quietly supported countless women with breast cancer in the Tri-State area, offering guidance and inspiration. Contributions in Marla's name may be made to the Mehlman Family Research Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
