Oscar Ravina was an important figure in my high school years when he was my chamber music coach. I credit him with a lot of influence over the fact that I am a musician today. A very special person.

Dear Ruth,
I remember your husband playing the Mendelssohn concerto so beautifully with the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra in March of 1987. I recall his friendliness to those of us in the orchestra. He will be missed by many musicians and friends.
With sincere sympathy to you and your sons,

Oscar Ravina was a musical inspiration and exceptional and extraordinary teacher. I studied viola with him 1989 through 1994 and think about him every time I pick up my instrument. He will be greatly missed by many, many people whose lives he touched.

In this time of sorrow, may it give you comfort to know that Oscar’s contribution to the lives of so many continues with each note that is played and in the wonderful memories of a truly dedicated and enormously talented musician and teacher.
My sincere sympathy to Ruth, Bernard and Mark.
