FARBER--Paul L.,

(1935 - 2017), died peacefully on November 29th, with his family by his side. Active and vital until age 82, he suffered from a rare and aggressive cancer beginning in June. Having grown up in Baltimore and attended the University of Maryland, Paul started his career in wines and spirits advertising in Chicago in 1957, eventually moving his young family to the New York area in 1969. From 1982 to 1984, Paul was senior executive vice president of Schenley Industries and president of its marketing subsidiary. He later turned his marketing talents and love of Italy into specialty food importing, buying De Medici Imports and growing the array of products and purveyors for 20 years prior to selling it in 2005. An avid golfer, tennis player and skier, Paul has been a biking enthusiast most of his life, until recently biking from home to Central Park to play tennis. He will be remembered for his great energy and zest for life, his interest in trying new things, his love of political discussion, wine and travel, and most of all, his commitment and love for his family. Paul is survived by his wife, Wendy, of 60 years, two daughters, Allison and Hillary, four grandchildren: Alex and Sophie Cheston, and Ari and Lucie Lloyd-Farber; son-in-law Peter Cheston, daughter-in-law Joanne Lloyd, brother Myron A. Farber, and sister Nathalie Braunstein. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 2pm at the New York Stem Cell Foundation, 619 West 54th Street, New York, NY 10019. Donations can be made in his memory to The New York Stem Cell Foundation.
