Peter Christopher Krist

KRIST-Peter Christopher. Age 86, of Westport, CT, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at his home. He was the husband of 59 years of Vede Makarion Krist. Born in Ansonia, CT August 23, 1919, Mr. Krist was the son of the late Nicholas and Marianne (Vasil) Krist and was a longtime Westport resident. He graduated magna cum laude in Psychology from Dartmouth College, Class of 1942 and was a veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force, discharged honorably as a Major. Mr. Krist was retired from the ExxonMobil Corp. where he had been senior V.P. of Employee Relations and was a member of the Board of Directors. He was also on the Board of Directors for the WestportWeston United Way, United Way of Tri-State, National Society to Prevent Blindness, Citizens Crime Comm. of N.Y. City and the Regional Plan Assn. He was also a member of the Business Advocacy Council for the NAACP Special Contribution Fund, the Commerce and Industry Council for the National Urban League, Inc., Labor Management Commission for the National Council on Alcoholism and was a Trustee for the John E. Gray Institute. Survivors also include two sons; David Peter Krist and his wife Stephanie of Weston, CT and Robert Peter Krist and his wife Candice of New Canaan, CT, five grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicole, Peter, Spencer and Geoffrey Krist and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Benas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, 10 AM at Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd, Orange, CT with entombment to follow at Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport, CT. A 40-Day Memorial service will follow at the same church on January 22, 2006 at 10:45 AM with a repast to be offered at the church afterward. There are no visiting hours.
