Grammy award winning record producer, engineer and musician, Rick Depofi, died Tuesday night at his apartment in Hamilton Heights after a two year battle with brain cancer. With his partners Craig Bishop and John Leventhal, Rick produced and arranged music at his recording studio, NY Noise, on Gansevoort Street with such artists as Rosanne Cash, Marc Cohn and Shawn Colvin. Rick was recently mentioned in the New York Times for his part in bringing Berklee College of Music to NYC and saving the historic studio Avatar, which will now be Berklee Powerstation. Rick was a beloved brother to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Kristin, sister Lou Ann, and brothers Dave and Eddie. A memorial service is being planned for April in New York City.
