In loving memory of Robin Lewis Farkas who passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 10th. Funeral services will be on Monday at 9:30am at Central Synagogue. Robin was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Alexander's department stores. His many civic activities included Chairman of the New York City Police Foundation, Chairman of the New York State Dormitory Authority, member of the Visiting Committee of Harvard University and the Executive Committee of the New York Metropolitan Merchants Association. He served on the boards of numerous companies in the United States and India and was active in Democratic politics in New York and Wyoming. He was a veteran of the US Army and a graduate of Choate, Harvard College and the Harvard Business School. The performing arts center at Harvard University called Farkas Hall was dedicated by his family in his honor. He was the adored husband of the late Carol Garner Farkas, deeply beloved father of Andrew, Bradford and Judi Farkas, Charles (Jill) Farkas Garner, and Andrea (Jeffrey) Krupen, cherished grandfather of Michael, Russell (Sam) and Marissa Krupen, Arielle, Nicole, George and Anderson Farkas, Victoria Garner, and treasured brother of Jonathan Farkas. He was the son of the late Ruth and George Farkas and widower of the late Suzanne Gold Farkas. Robin was an indomitable spirit, reverent about those he loved, irreverent about all else, voracious in his curiosity, game for almost anything, enthusiastic about almost everything, loyal, gentle, and kind. He weathered adversity and joy with equal humility and humor. He loved everything life had to offer, and loved his family and friends most of all. Dad, we wish you infinite travels and hope there's a Silversea in the stars. With more love and appreciation than we could ever express. Andrew, Brad, Charles, Judi and Andrea
