died peacefully in Delray, FL on December 6, 2017 surrounded by his family, including his loving wife of 57 years, Sheila. Walter was born in Passaic, NJ in 1926. A first generation American and a World War II Navy Veteran, Walter established the Pekar Construction Company with his father, Jacob, and worked for the City of Passaic for 36 years, first as the supervisor of buildings and the zoning officer, and then as the coordinator of building services for the school system. After Passaic, Walter lived in Clifton, NJ; Honesdale, PA; and Boynton Beach, FL. In addition to Sheila, Walter is survived by his son, James, and his daughter, Thaler; his daughter-in-law, Maren Laughlin; and his son-in-law, Thomas Bergin.
