SHIPLEY--Walter V., The Trustees and community of the American Museum of Natural History are deeply saddened by the death of Walter Shipley, a longtime Museum Trustee and our dear friend. A business leader of the highest integrity, vision, and achievement, Walter gave unstintingly of his expertise, enthusiasm, and intelligence and we were fortunate to have his leadership and guidance for 20 years including as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Committee on Trustees. For his commitment to science and education, we were privileged to honor him at our Corporate Dinner in 1996. We knew Walter as an accomplished and caring man who was passionate about the Museum's mission and ever optimistic about New York City, our country, and the world. We send heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Lewis W. Bernard, Chairman Ellen V. Futter, President
