Spence-Chapin offers its heartfelt remembrance of the life and spirit of Flicka Van Praagh. Flicka will be remembered by her ground-breaking career at Spence-Chapin Adoption Services having joined the agency in 1958, and notably serving as Director of International Adoption from 1992-2004. She was known for her compassion, as well as her ability to remember all of the children she placed – in excess of 500 children during her time at the organization. Understanding the critical impact that physical and emotional contact has during a child's early stages of development, Flicka had the vision to establish Spence-Chapin's first Granny Program in 1998.

Spence-Chapin sends our sincere condolences to Flicka's family and friends. Her steadfast commitment to creating forever families for the world's most vulnerable children has touched many lives and has cemented her place in the history of Spence-Chapin and in the hearts of many.
