The Juilliard community is deeply saddened by the death of our former colleague Otto-Werner Mueller. One of the most respected and successful teachers of conducting around the world, he headed the Juilliard conducting program from 1987-2004. A person of exacting standards whose knowledge of the musical score was supreme, he was able to mold orchestras and young conductors in ways that brought out the best in them all. His many students have gone on to highly successful careers as orchestral musicians and conductors. We send our deepest condolences to his wife Ginny, his children and grandchildren and his many friends and colleagues. He will be deeply missed by us all. Joseph W. Polisi, President Ara Guzelimian, Provost and Dean
