George H. Bullen

BULLEN--George H. 1946 -2008. George Bullen died on January 28th, after a brave battle with cancer. He was 62. George Bullen was Chairman of the Bullen Insurance Group of companies, which includes Geo. V. Bullen & Son, Inc., Geo. V. Bullen & Son Florida, Inc., and Jackson Hole Insurance LLC. As third generation head of the family firm, he molded the property and casualty insurance business into the successful and thriving practice it is today serving the unique insurance needs of America's wealthiest families. Clients of the firm range from several of America's founding families to hedge fund billionaires, with a modicum of Hollywood and New York celebrities. The firm, established in 1897 by his grandfather, has operation centers in Great Neck, NY, and Jupiter, FL, with additional offices in Locust Valley, NY, New York, NY, and Jackson, WY. Matthew Fox, his son-in-law serves as the fourth generation head of the firm. George served on the boards of several private clubs and charities, including president of the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club for six years located in Locust Valley, NY, and Senior Warden of All Saints Church, in Great Neck, NY, which his grandfather helped to build. He was also a founding Board Member of Privilege Underwriters Reciprocal Insurance Co. George Bullen lived in Locust Valley, NY, for many years and had a working cattle ranch outside of Jackson, Wyoming. More recently he lived in Hobe Sound, FL, spending summers in East Hampton, NY. He is survived by his wife Joyce, two daughters Melissa Johnson (Sargent) of Wayzata, MN, and Alicia Fox (Matthew) of Bedford, NY, six grandchildren, and his mother Mary McDonald of Hobe Sound, FL. A memorial service will be held on Jupiter Island, FL, on Friday, February 1st, at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Mesothelioma Center, c/o Dr. R.
