EDWARD MESHEKOFF Obituary

MESHEKOFF--Edward, artist/ designer/ creator, died August 9, 2010 at 92 in New York City. Bronx-born, his legacy includes many public works of art notably the decorative railings that fill the promenade of Lincoln Center's New York State Theater, murals and mosaics gracing the Met Life, AT&T and Amoco buildings, and imaginative paintings for the SS United States. He received many commissions from such architects as P. Johnson, F. Gina and A. E. Poor. Meshekoff received formal art training at UCLA and pioneered the concept of using visual aids to facilitate training during WWII. He leaves behind his beloved wife Helen, sister Phyllis, dancer/sculptress daughter Luisa, son Matthew, six grandchildren and extended family and friends.
