Christopher Walsh Obituary

1965 - 2013
Christopher David Walsh, 47

Christopher David Walsh, 47, of Brooklyn, NY, and most recently, Malden, MA, passed away on March 29, 2013. He was the son of the late Walter W. Walsh and Barbara M. Peston Walsh of Madison, CT, born to them in New Rochelle, NY on June 8, 1965. Christopher graduated from Daniel Hand High School in Madison, CT in 1983 and from Boston University's School of Economics in 1987. In high school, he played football and drums in the marching band, but his true love was rock and roll. He played bass guitar and was the frontman in numerous bands of note, from Requiem in White to Judith, Moto Rosa, and most recently, the Strunz. Inspired by travel, art and the literature of wits like Oscar Wilde, he wrote and played the music he loved. Since graduating college, Christopher worked in various financial companies, such as Prudential Securities, JP Morgan and Allianz, as a mutual fund and hedge fund manager and Vice President. He also was a black belt and competitor in Tae Kwon Do and co-published and edited Sentimentalist Magazine from 2000 to 2007 with his ex-wife and friend Madeline Virbasius. Anyone who knew Christopher would also know how much he loved his pet dogs, Odette, Nuff and Popple. Christopher will be remembered by his many friends and family, both in the U.S. and abroad.

I'm saddened to just hear this news so many years after his passing. I interned at Sentimentalist for a short time in '06. Chris was a kind mentor and a passionate soul who truly loved what he did in music and art. Rest in peace friend.

I remember doing a photoshoot with you and Moto Rosa. I remember when we looked at a few photos of Scott jumping from a ladder and you started mimicking his photo. It was the most hilarious thing and I am glad to have experienced your wonderful sense of humor.

I met Christopher my first year at BU we were kindred souls- I sang for Requiem and wrote songs with him for the first year we were at BU until Lisa re-joined. I adored him. He was kind and gentle and an inspiration to work with. I am so sad he has passed. Bless him and his family. What a beautiful soul...
