ZALMAN--Gilbert M. Gil Zalman, a true New Yorker, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013. He is survived by Jane Beach Zalman, devoted wife of 34 years, daughters Hollie Watman and her partner Robert Futterman, Salome Edgeworth, and Sara Zalman Pascal and her husband Clement Pascal, grandchildren Carley Watman and Lily Ripley, and countless beloved family and friends. Born to Dora Kaplan and Solomon Yancu in Brooklyn on January 25, 1934, Gil attended Brooklyn Tech, City College, and NYU, where he studied engineering. A Renaissance man and entrepreneur, Gil was Founder and President of the Matterhorn Sports Club, a worldwide travel company, and worked as an engineer, mathematician, and teacher, and also served in the Navy. He was a generous, kind, and thoughtful man, and one hell of a dancer.
