LETIZIA BENENSON Obituary

BENENSON--Letizia Pitigliani. Artist Letizia Pitigliani, born November 23, 1935, of New York City, Port Murray, New Jersey and Rome, Italy, died on January 24, 2012 in Cancun, Mexico. She is survived by her son Alexander, her daughter Daniela Fifi and her sister Anna Drago. Her husband Mark K. Benenson passed away on November 26 2013. Born in Rome, her family fled Italy at the beginning of WWII for New York City, to which she returned in marriage, to raise a family, and make her career as a painter. She is best known in New York City for her Harbor Festival posters from 1976-1986. Her work is found worldwide in private and public collections, and printed in hundreds of thousands of posters celebrating festivals and events big and small. Letizia Pitigliani's works can be seen at www.pitigliani.com. A memorial will be held in the spring.

Alex and Fifi, I don't know if you remember me but I babysat for you years ago in Port Murray while your mom painted in her studio by the pond. Or went to Waterloo Village Concerts.
You were wonderful children and I've thought of you and Susie and Matthew and wondered how and where you are today and what you grew up to be. Your dad always picked me up in his Morgan and I loved how he raced the windy roads. I found a Christmas card recently that I saved because it was beautiful and your mom sent me yrs ago of you two drawn on red paper. So I decided to try to find you. But I'm so sorry to read you lost your Mom and Dad though. I just lost my mom at 100 yrs old. I dont live in Karrville anymore since 1980 but I visit the area sometimes. I hope you are well and your cousins and if we never see each other again I just wanted you to know I've thought of you both over the years and your Mom and Dad. Lovely family. My Sympathy

I dont know how to find any of you, but I read the obituary of Letitzia and also Mark with sadness. Michel died last April. I am still in NY and I am sorry we have all lost touch.
