ALFRED SIEGEL Obituary

SIEGEL--Alfred, The staff of the Center for Court Innovation deeply mourns the untimely passing of our dear friend and colleague Alfred Siegel. Over his long career in the field of criminal justice from his years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx, to his tenure as deputy commissioner of New York City's Department of Probation, to his work with the Task Force on Transforming New York State's Juvenile Justice System, to his fifteen years here at the Center Alfred worked tirelessly to make New York a better, safer and more just place for all of us. He approached his work with a unique combination of wisdom, humility, generosity, and humor, and his absence leaves a deep hole in our lives. Alfred, the world is a better place because you were in it. You will be truly missed.

I never had the privilege of meeting Mr. Siegel but I am friends with his sister, Alice and I know she loved him very much. It sounds like he was a wonderful man and will be missed deeply. My condolences to the entire family.

I will always remember Alfred as the best sports fan I ever knew. And the funniest memory is when he somehow had to coach a kids' baseball team wearing Mets jerseys. That was a cap he would never put on.
