I was so sorry to hear this news. Like many who have signed this book, I too was touched by Rob. As a member of one of his DLJ training programs, he not only taught me but was a mentor too. We recently reconnected and over a text string he typed "saying that there is a lot of volatility today is like saying there is a lot of gravity today." For those of you that knew Rob, you can close your eyes and picture him saying it. Thank you for all you have done for me Rob. Rest in peace.

I was so saddened to learn about Rob's death. I met Rob at a party at GW University in 1970. He had hairstyle a little like a porcupine. Tall, with leather jacket and jeans. He was my boyfriend on and off for a time for the next year or so, and I was pretty mad for him. He was hilarious and a little insane--could keep a room of people in stitches for hours. At that time he was sort of an an aspiring artist, and rendered beautiful fantasy drawings in pen and ink--knights and dragons, and things of that sort. He was obsessed with Kierkegaard.

Rob at that time was a little wild, and fearless. The only time I have ever ridden a motorcycle was on the back of one, with Rob driving it, from DC to Manassas, VA. I remember how he and a group of male GW friends came up to my [women's] college in the middle of the night after I transferred, threw stones at my window, and proceeded to "terrorize" the girls in my dorm by using the women's room and showers, and engaging in general silliness. The last time I saw Rob during college I visited Bronxville, and it was snowing. He was driving me to the train station via a very steep hill. He lost control and the car skidded down the hill, turning twice and stopping at the bottom. But he regained control, and went on to meet his beloved wife and embark on a wonderful career.

I next saw Rob many years later, when coincidently, it turns out we had children at the same school. I'd see him occasionally, walking down Court Street.

I hope that you don't mind my sharing these reminiscences. I'm so sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure to know Rob way back when. Certainly, he was too young to go. My deepest condolences to you, Rob's family.

Rob always taught us at DLJ that "when you get what you came for in a client meeting, leave the room immediately....you can only screw things up if you stay". After seeing and hearing how beautifully Claire and Max spoke today at his memorial service, he got what he came for. And he left the room. See you on the other side, Rob.

I'll always remember Bob as one of the first people I met at Pittsford High School in N.Y. We played Freshman Football together. He always had a great sense of humor and an obvious innate intelligence. My condolences to his family. I'm sure he is missed.

Rob was a close colleague for a number of years. I always enjoyed his friendship. My prayers for the family in this time of loss.

Rob is my brother. He was born when I was 7 and my sister, Sue, was 10. We were Mom's helpers and very involved in caring for him. He was full of humor and charm from an early age. I remember his sitting on the couch with me and showing me his favorite foot. Both those feet looked cute to me but he explained the favorite had a freckle. We loved his silly and charming ways.

Rob is my brother and was born when I was about 7 years old and my sister was 10. We were Mom's helpers and very involved in caring for him. He had a great sense of humor and was full of charm from an early age. I remember just hanging out on the couch with him when he was around 4 years old. He showed me his favorite foot. They both looked like cute feet to me but he explained the favorite one had a freckle and that made it special.

Rob was a mentor and inspiration to me and many people at GSAM (Goldman Sachs Asset Management). He recruited and trained the most amazing team of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with and will always be fondly remembered by all of us that worked there. Rob was always full of ideas and had an true talent for inspiring and energizing everyone around him. I will always remember him as a mentor and key person who shaped my understanding of the industry and in turn helped to launch my career. I am deeply saddened by the news and send my sincere condolences to his family.

Rob will be remembered for finding irony and humor at every turn. His dry wit was a cornerstone of the DLJ PCS training program. He imparted knowledge and hilarity.

Rob created a culture and an infrastructure at a very special firm. His "people" were loyal to him and his principles and made the job of others much easier. In a very quiet way he epitomized class and intellect and left a lasting impression on those he touched. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.

Rob was a huge mentor and inspiration to me and the 1997 training class of new MBA Associates at DLJ, a firm that will always be fondly remembered by all of us that worked there. Rob was always hilarious and made a huge impact on us all. We will always remember him as the force that help shape our understanding of the industry and in turn launch our careers. My thoughts and prayers and most sincere condolences go out to Rob's family. Rest in Peace.

My condolences to Rob's family. Rob ran my DLJ training program and made a huge impression on an impressionable young lady. My classmates and I still identify ourselves by what year we fell under Rob's tutelage, even though it was only a few months long. May he rest in peace.

Sad and surprising news. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rob's family. Some wonderful memories visiting Ed Jones HQ in St. Louis with Rob. He was a special guy and did a great deal for many people including me. Fondest memory is teasing Rob about never taking off his suit jacket not matter how hot it got - always looked sharp. Great guy and a big loss....
