I had spoken with Victor about a month ago by telephone. On impulse, I called his office, although we had not been in contact for decades. His assistant told me that he comes to the office every day I intended to come in and say hello in person but unfortunately i did not do so.

It was an honor and a pleasure to have known Victor, with his humor, his great love for art and his boundless enthusiasm for young musicians, especially pianists. I am one of many who will miss him, and my condolences go to his family.
