Aideen O'Kelly, Actress and Mother, April 22, 2015.

A professional actress since she was 17, Miss O'Kelly was a member of Ireland's Abbey Theatre Company; she also performed at Dublin's Gate Theatre. She won multiple awards for stage and TV, before emigrating to the U.S. in 1977, where she had an extensive career including several Broadway roles; one of which, Emilia, in Shakespeare's Othello, garnered her a Drama Desk Award. Her career spanned more than 50 years and included a rich selection of theater, TV and film. She spent the last decade in the Actors' Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey, where she led an active life. Aideen is survived and mourned by her sister Emer; and four children: David, Kevin, Orla and Judith.

There will be a service, and celebration of Aideen's life, planned for July; those who would attend are asked to contact family members for details.

I first saw your Mom in "Still Dreaming" the documentary. I am glad I got to know of her. She was a spitfire and her love of acting she had her whole life. I am happy she participated in Still dreaming. She left a nice memory for us who did not know her.

Aideen O'Kelly was, to me, a very charming, funny,
talented, and wise person. And she could tell you what
was on her mind without being too sharp about it.
She is a loss to the theater world and to all those who
knew and cared about her.
My sympathy to the family members.
