Aideen O'Kelly, Actress and Mother, April 22, 2015.
A professional actress since she was 17, Miss O'Kelly was a member of Ireland's Abbey Theatre Company; she also performed at Dublin's Gate Theatre. She won multiple awards for stage and TV, before emigrating to the U.S. in 1977, where she had an extensive career including several Broadway roles; one of which, Emilia, in Shakespeare's Othello, garnered her a Drama Desk Award. Her career spanned more than 50 years and included a rich selection of theater, TV and film. She spent the last decade in the Actors' Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey, where she led an active life. Aideen is survived and mourned by her sister Emer; and four children: David, Kevin, Orla and Judith.
There will be a service, and celebration of Aideen's life, planned for July; those who would attend are asked to contact family members for details.
