I am so sad to hear about Brookie. She was so supportive of so many artists including myself. She was so beautiful and generous with such a creative spirit. She did all she could to make this world a better place. She is such an inspiration on how to live a full, creative and thoughtful life. Thank you Brookie for everything! You will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to her entire family. Much love, Jennifer

We were best buddies at SVA! I treasure our memories? You are missed. My memory of us leads to your parents home one weekend. I remember breaking the old swing that hung from the big old tree!
Rest in peace

Brookie was a wonderful person and a very caring mother. I met her when our kids were in pre-K and was struck by how creative and exciting she was. Kids loved to visit and her generosity was extraordinary. This is a terrible loss and our thoughts go out to her very special son, Ellis.

There was a generosity about Brookie that was pure and almost childlike. She would give you anything to make you comfortable or happy, but she was shy about sharing much about herself. You could see Brookie's generosity of spirit in her art - in what she portrayed and how she portrayed it. And Brookie was a giving, thought -full mother to Ellis- wanting to share the best of the world, especially literature, with him. We will miss her and think of her often with the warmest thoughts.

Dearest Brookie
Growing up in CAW was always a joyous time for me.I could hardly walk to the park when Jenny/Fred dropped us off.The park was filled with so much love and excitement. While at CAW I built a sisterhood/brotherhood with many of the other children, some of which im still very close with.
I remember the day you allowed me and several others to be apart of your wedding. it was clear you were no longer the founder/director, you were family!
what I remember most about you was your long straight black hair, your all black attire, and all the art you helped our minds to explore.
You, Chris, and a host of volunteers have created so many memories and opportunities for us.For that I will forever be thankful.
Brookie, you will be missed by all
XOXO

My Dearest Brookie;
Growing up in CAW was such a happy place for me.As a child I couldn't wait to arrive to the Saturday workshops.
What I miss most is my CAW family. The thanskgiving dinners, the art, the knick games, camping trips, dance, and etc.We had alot of great memories and opportunities, and we owe it all to you and Chris.
What you provided along with others, was a safe, fun, educational and loving environment.
Because of you I built a sisterhood with some of the other children and as adults we are still very close.
What I remember most was being in your beautiful wedding at the Botanical Gardens. It was then that you became more then just the founder/director of the program. You were family!
I love you dearly XOXO

I was saddened and shocked to hear of brookie's passing. Brookie was a generous contributor to the art exhibitions at Bellevue Hospital Center where I worked. She introduced me to her father. She met my sons. We all wer so fond of her. I send condolences to her family. Denny Levy
