EVELYN SOMMER Obituary
91, on January 27, 2016. She worked full-time as a patent attorney for over 60 years, until 10 days before her death. Devoted to her husband of 57 years, Rudolph Sommer, who predeceased her. She leaves three children, Peter Sommer, Cathy Iselin, and Tim Sommer, as well as three grandchildren, Adele, John, and Lucy. Graveside service 2pm, Sunday, January 31, at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien, CT. Donations may be made in her memory to Cambridge Friends School Playscape, Cambridge Friends School, 5 Cadbury Road, Cambridge, MA 02140.

Evelyn's Family,
I recently learned of Evelyn's passing, please accept my deepest sympathy. I have known Evelyn since 1992. She is one of the most interesting persons I have had the pleasure to meet. Over the years and many conversations, through her trusted insight and deep knowledge, I learned a great deal. I have fond memories of when I would visit her on Sunday afternoons, we would talk for hours. I would bring her a Starbucks Caffè Mocha and a pack of their dark chocolate covered graham crackers. Evelyn definitely had a sweet tooth, she could be counted on as having a stash of cookies somewhere close at hand. We had dinner a couple of times at La Bretagne which was a treat for both of us. Over the years Evelyn came to know my children and took an interest in their doings. She never became dismissive even when I got carried away bragging about them. She kept a picture of my daughter on her dining room table. For these things and so many more I consider Evelyn one of my closest friends. I will truly miss her. My thoughts are with you.

I am deeply saddened to learn that Ms. Evelyn M. Sommer has passed. She was my true friend, I was her true friend. My sympathy goes out to her family.

So very sorry to hear of Evelyn's passing and my heart goes out to you all. She was a strong advocate for me in my patent pursuits and steadfast when I needed her most. She will be deeply missed...but never forgotten.

The more I think about Evelyn and our time together I realize that although I was there to help her, it was Evelyn that helped me. Evelyn was brilliant and witty in conversation. She always had the right answers and advance for any and all of my many questions regarding life and it's many hurdles. We spent countless hours together and I had the pleasure of hearing all of her stories. She truly was a remarkable woman and very dear to me. I will never forget her and will cherish our time together. My deepest sympathy to all of her family.
