Dr. Carmen Ortiz. The Yeshiva University family mourns the passing of Dr. Carmen Ortiz Hendricks, a respected social work scholar and community leader. She was appointed the Dorothy and David I. Schachne Dean of Wurzweiler School of Social Work in 2012, becoming the first Latina dean of a New York City social work school. As dean, she upheld the values of the profession both by example and in her depth of caring and commitment for students and the broader community. Sincerest condolences are expressed to her beloved husband, James, and her entire family. Richard M. Joel, President, Yeshiva University Froma Benerofe, Chair, Wurzweiler Board of Overseers
