died peacefully in her sleep at home on August 15, 2016 at the age of 104. Vera was born in Brooklyn to Louis and Sara D'lugasch, a doctor and surgical nurse who met and worked at Beth Israel Hospital. Vera was a person of considerable taste, style and elegance and was a prominent women's fashion designer, along with her late husband Arthur, to whom she was married for fifty-seven years. She worked well into her nineties, and lived her life the way she wanted to: firmly in the present. Vera was predeceased by her brother, Spencer Douglas, and is survived by her loving sister and closest friend Dr. Shirley Zussman, her daughter Linda Pruzan, her grandsons and their wives, Robert and Tracey Pruzan, Michael and Helaine Pruzan, and Jonathan and Lisa Pruzan, and her seven great-grandchildren, Ben and Alison, Samantha and Matthew, and Lucy, Charlie and Sydney. Vera, born before the maiden voyage of the Titanic, was very proud of her whole family and will be remembered as stylish, graceful, loving and generous and a titanic loss to her friends, family and all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th St., New York, NY 10023, on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 1:00pm. Shiva immediately following the service.
