IRWIN WEINDLING Obituary
of New York, NY, passed away at his home late on October 18. He was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1924, the son of Samuel and Regina Claire Weindling. Beloved husband of the late Rosalind Grant Weindling, father to Alexander Weindling and Barbara Weindling, grandfather to Matthew, Andrew and Claire Weindling and Gavin Cohen. Brother to Irene Probstein and the late Leon and Sylvan Weindling. Irwin immigrated to the United States in 1940. He attended Stuyvesant High School, declining admission to M.I.T. to enlist in the Armed Services and became a US Citizen before deployment back overseas to Europe. A few years after his honorable discharge from the army, he and his brother Leon took over his father's industrial diamond business and grew it into London Star, one of the largest diamond and diamond jewelry manufacturers in North America, before selling the company in 1996.

Enjoyed playing bridge with your dad at the Honors Bridge Club for several years .He was very happily married and proud of her musicianship and then missed her terribly.He then played with Richard Strauss ,a major supporter of the Metropolitan Opera.
