on April 11, 2017 in New York City. Known to most as Al, he was born to Mary and Leo Hampel in Paterson, New Jersey. A graduate of East Side High School, Al served in the US Navy aboard the Repair Ship USS Hector near the end of WWII, after which he attended and graduated from New York University. Al enjoyed a celebrated career in Advertising, rising to Copy Chief at the firm Young and Rubican, then Worldwide Creative Director at Benton and Bowles where he penned the famous line: "It's not creative unless it sells." He also served as Chairman of D Arcy MacManus Masius, New York City. Al's charm and wit will be missed by all who knew him throughout his life. He is survived by Dorothy, his loving wife of over 60 years, children Laurence, Jeffrey, and Julie, grandchildren Ian, Erin and Bennett, as well as his brother Daniel.
