ANITA ESHAY Obituary

ESHAY--Anita,

died on September 8, 2017, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 98, with her beloved lifelong companion, Jane Barnfield, by her side. She was born in New York City on May 8, 1919, to Jack and Rose Eshay and was one of three sisters, lovingly known as The Golden Girls throughout their lives. Anita went into business with her parents: first the jewelry business and then running the fabled Fin 'N Claw restaurant on 3rd Avenue and 79th Street for nearly three decades. When the restaurant closed its doors she ran a thriving limousine service with her cousin for another two decades. Anita stood out as a highly successful businesswoman in an era of Mad Men and was an icon for an upcoming feminist generation to follow. Her kindness and generosity toward her family and friends was legendary. Her close relationship with her sisters, Sylvia and Pearl, stood out as a model for her extended family. In addition to her beloved Jane, Anita is survived by her son, Howard, her granddaughter Rose, her nephews Arthur (Linda), Harvey (Leni), nieces Doree and Karen and their children and an extended family of cherished cousins. Anita will be buried alongside her sisters at Beth El Cemetery.
