In the 1940's Jean Stewart and Hazel Forsyth swam the entire length of the old 33 1/3 yard Dunedin "tepid baths" swimming pool - one on top and the other shadowing on her back at the bottom of the pool. This was amazing to me as a kid and I've not seen it repeated since.
