Katherine Gilmore Obituary

Katherine M. Gilmore, 88, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 1, 2017, in Washington Hospital.
She was born December 30, 1928, in Bentleyville, a daughter of Frank and Julia Senkus Ambrosy.
She graduated from Bentleyville High School in 1946 as valedictorian of her class, where she enjoyed playing violin for the high school orchestra. Following graduation, the Veterans Administration in Chicago and Philadelphia employed her.
Mrs. Gilmore then worked as a credit manager with JC Penney Co. for 25 years, until her retirement in 1999.
She was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, where she was very active in Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Parish Council.
Mrs. Gilmore was a member of American Legion Post 175 Ladies Auxiliary, Washington.
She enjoyed taking family vacations and cruises.
On October 24, 1953, in St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, Bentleyville, she married Charles W. Gilmore, who survives. Together, they were married for 64 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan (Tony) Capuro of The Colony, Texas, and Teresa (Clay) Smith of Carrollton, Texas; two sons, Michael (Linda) Gilmore of Burgettstown and Mark (Tammy) Gilmore of Washington; three granddaughters, Jennifer, Nicole and Danielle; two grandsons, Jared and Brandon; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Sebastian; a sister, Josephine Sirianni of Bentleyville; several nieces and nephews; and various relatives living in Lithuania.
Deceased are two sisters, Ann Markunas and Julia Evans; three brothers, Stanley Ambrosy, Francis Ambrosy and Anthony Ambrosy; and a granddaughter, Jenna Gilmore.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington. Entombment will be held at a later date in Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.

Our family is saddened to learn of Kay's passing. My Mom Sally Eustis worked at Penny's for many years, and spoke fondly of their friendship. May your memories carry you through these coming days, and may God keep you close.
