Thomas C. Garrett Sr., 78, of McDonald, Cecil Township, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, in Shadyside Hospital.
Tom was born August 20, 1942, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Louis and Laura Smith Garrett.
Mr. Garrett was a retired building engineer, working on the PPG Place building.
He was a dedicated member of the McDonald United Presbyterian Church in McDonald, where he could often be found fixing the church or helping anyone in need.
Tom enjoyed traveling alongside his wife to the beach, Smoky Mountains and Sugarcreek, Ohio. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a talented gardener. He was a jack-of-all-trades, and enjoyed teaching all of his special skills to his family. Tom was most proud of the family that he and his wife raised over the years, and the time that he spent teaching, hunting, fishing and gardening with his five grandsons, who were his pride and joy.
Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Catherine Garrett of McDonald, Cecil Township; children Thomas "Tom" (Missy) Garrett Jr. of McDonald and Laura (Rodney) Hendal of Cecil; grandchildren Andrew, Austin and Alec Hendal, Beau and Cody Garrett; siblings Louis (Bud) Garrett and Diane (Tudy) McFalls.
Friends and family will be received from noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 20, in Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald (724-926-2800). A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 21, in McDonald United Presbyterian Church, McDonald. Burial will follow at Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McDonald U.P. Church, in honor of Tom.

I am so sorry to see that Tom passed away. It is so hard to be with out the one you've loved for do long. My prayers are with you Mary Cathryn.
