Ocala - James 'Jim' Arthur Price, 69, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2016 at his home in Ocala after a long battle with heart disease. Jim was born on January 28, 1947 in Jacksonville. After high school, he spent two years as an enlisted man in the Navy. After he was discharged, he attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he met and married his wife, Barbara, in 1973. He and Barbara moved to Ocala following graduation where he worked in management and sales for over 30 years and raised two boys. He loved camping, canoeing, being outside in nature, sports, and his Florida Gators. He started Boy Scout Troop 18 in Ocala, served as their Scoutmaster for a number of years, and saw eight of his scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara; his son, Michael, along with his wife, Amanda, and their children, Elizabeth and Caleb of Ocala; his son, Matthew, along with his son, Patrick of Ocala; his sisters, Joyce Lewis of Jacksonville and Jeannie Bell of Atlanta; and his brothers, CW Price of Brooksville and Gary Price of Tallahassee.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Friday, June 24. Visitation with the family will be welcomed at 10:30 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in his name to Hospice of Marion County.
