Obituary Condolences

Patricia (Pat) Ashby Cutherell, 92, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2018 at the Legacy Hospice House in Ocala. Patricia was born in New York City and moved to Jacksonville, FL at an early age. She attended school at Saint Paul's Catholic School, and was still in high school when she met her first husband, George Henry (Hank) Whipple. They were married before Hank shipped out in the U.S. Navy to the Western pacific during World War II. After the war, Pat and Hank built a small house that constantly needed enlargement due to the seven children that came along. Pat was active in the children's school activities and served as a Cub Scout Den mother and president of the Saint Paul's School PTA.
Hank started out working for Delta Airlines after the war, and later worked for the Western Electric Telephone Company. When Hank was transferred to South Florida, Pat, and the children that were still at home, moved to Plantation, FL, where Pat worked as a dental office manager for years. After Hank retired, they moved to Gainesville, FL. Their final move was to Top of the World in Ocala. Pat was an accomplished pianist and played the organ for church services, even when she was still in high school. She was an expert seamstress and designer of beautiful quilts that adorn her children's homes today. She also taught quilting and sewing classes. 'Mumsy,' as she was affectionately known to her family, loved picture puzzles, traveling to see her family and anything related to the movie 'Gone With The Wind.'
Hank passed away after 60 years of marriage. Two years later, Pat found love again with William (Bill) Cutherell, retired from government service. They were happily married for 13 years.
Pat was predeceased by her first husband, George H. Whipple; and her eldest daughter, Patricia Elaine Waples-Klepper.
She is survived by her husband, William Cutherell; four sons, Nick (Diane), Stephen (Jean), Richard (Karen) and David (Cheryl) Whipple; and two daughters, Karen Wilson and Marilyn Whipple. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
