William Waller Obituary

WALLER, WILLIAM, 99
Ocala - William L. Waller died Tuesday, January 17, after a short illness, just five months before his 100th birthday. He was born in Silver Creek, Mississippi, graduated from Millsaps College, and came to Florida as a young man. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Dora Mae Tompkins Waller, his brother Hal K. Waller, and his parents Knox and Etta Jane Waller. He is survived by his son, Curt Waller and wife Aletha, and his daughter, Jane Sands and husband Stephen. Also surviving are grandchildren, Reed Waller and Scott and Jen Sands, and great-grandchildren Caleb Waller and Emily and Catherine Sands. He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church and past president of the Ocala Kiwanis Club. He was a sergeant in the U. S. Army and served in the Philippines during World War II. He was employed for many years by Carl Rose in several capacities and retired in 1974 from Ocala Limerock. He fostered in his son a love of hunting and the outdoors and in his first grandson, a love of golf. His integrity, positive outlook, and the love and respect he demonstrated towards all he encountered will be an enduring legacy for his family. Family graveside services were held Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Curt and Jane
My heartfelt condolences to both of you. He worked with my father for a number of years at Marion Motors. I always enjoyed speaking with him when I played in the Camp Golf Tournament in the '70's and '80's. He would always be behind the 12th green.

"70 years is our life span--80 years with special mightiness." (Psalms 90:10) William had 99 years of special mightiness. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of the times you spent together as you celebrate a life well lived.
