Edgar Hawkins Obituary

HAWKINS, EDGAR
CARLISLE
Edgar (Ed) Carlisle Hawkins was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 4, 2011. Ed was born in 1928 in Quincy, Florida. He served honorably in the Army Air Force from 1946-1947 teaching the new radar technology. Ed moved to Ocala in 1972 and worked in retail, got his degree and began a career in education, establishing horticulture programs for the Department of Corrections and later for ARC. Ed was active with his sons in Boy Scouts from 1973 to 1984. He retired from his job in 1992 and delved into doing what he really loved: collecting and dealing in antiques and oddities. Over the next ten years he and his wife traveled in their camper, setting up at antique shows throughout the East. He loved the Lord and his church, Grace Presbyterian PCA. Ed was well-loved and will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 50 years, Connie; their sons: Todd (Franklin, TN) and Brett (Nashville, TN); daughters-in-law: Christina and Aimee; grandchildren: Jordan, Olivia and Nathan; his sons: Tony (Gulf Shores, AL) and Danny (Oshkosh, WI); grandchildren: Wendy and Aaron. He also leaves four brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Edgar P. Hawkins; his mother Helen Adair, and his brother Wilbur. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8, at Roberts Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, 606 SW 2nd Ave., Ocala, FL. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2255 SE 38th Street, Ocala, FL. Arrangements are under the care of Roberts Funeral Homes, Downtown Chapel. 352-622-4141.
