STANLEY WHITE Obituary

WHITE, STANLEY G., 80
Citra - Stanley G. White, 80, of Citra, Florida owner of Stanley G. White's Grandeur Arabians in partnership with his beloved wife, Kitty, entered into his eternal rest Monday morning, April 3, 2017. Stanley was born in Waverly, Virginia in 1936 to E. Carl Sr. and Annie. He married his high school sweetheart, Kitty, in 1953, and together they built a family dynasty of horse trainers and exhibitors through their sons, Stan Jr., and Steve. Stanley rose to be a giant in the training, breeding, and shadowing of Arabian and half-Arabian horses. Winning numerous National and Regional championships throughout the United States and Canada. Stanley brought joy and pride to the hundreds of owners who entrusted him with their prize Arabians. Stanley began his professional training career under the employment of the late Arabian legend, Bazy Tankersley in 1962.
In 1968, he moved his family to Michigan for his newfound position as trainer/manager of Don Ford's Lancer Arabians. Following the dispersal sale of the prized Lancer herd in Ocala, FL in 1980, Stanley and Kitty founded their own facility, Stanley G. White's Grandeur Arabians. Under those majestic oaks just south of Citra, Stanley and Kitty continued to breed, train and show Arabian champions until the recent passing of their partner and son, Steve in 2016. A world renowned horseman, Stanley trained in dressage with the famed Captain Heyer, he also taught Arabian horse judging. Through his conduct of countless clinics he helped establish the AHA judging school and its foundation, Stanley was inducted into the Region 12 Hall of Fame in 2013, and The Arabian Horse Association Judges Hall of Fame in 2015. Together with Kitty they received the APHA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
A tireless giver of his time and talents for the benefit of others, Stanley was introduced to the famous Chincoteague ponies by his friend William Peebles, when Stanley was a child. As an adult, he immersed himself in the breeding and improvement of the wild herd of ponies on the coast of his native Virginia hometown. He donated Arabian stallions to enrich their bloodstock, rode numerous times in the annual Chincoteague roundup to the extent of being awarded the title of honorary Saltwater Cowboy. A man of as many interest as he had talents, he pursued his passion for bird dogs through his own breeding and training of English Pointers and English Setters, repeatedly proving their talents and superior training through numerous field trial trophies and championships. Self-made man incomparable friend and mentor to hundreds, Stanley's greatest love and dedication were reserved and delivered to his beloved wife, Kitty, and their children and grandchildren.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Annie; son, Steve; and brother, Carl, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Kitty; son, Stanley (Kathy) White, Jr.; grandchildren, Stanley (Holly) White III, Dane (Jennifer) White, Shanea (Chris) Hamilton, Kaitlin White; two great-grandchildren, Zachary White, Owen Hamilton; and his sister, Anne White Cowling.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at the Roberts Funeral Home Downtown Chapel located at 606 SW 2nd Ave Ocala, FL 34471. Services will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3pm also held at the Roberts Funeral Home Downtown Chapel. Stanley will be missed by many. He shared so much with many of us. He and Kitty are wonderful people that we all loved and respected. I will charish all the memories from years ago. They were some of the best of my life! Kitty you are a lady that I always admired beautiful, classy and elegant. Stanley once told me all you had to do was lift an eyebrow and he knew exactly what you meant. Sometimes it takes a special lady to be with a special man and you both are that to us all.
