DELORES FARRIS Obituary

FARRIS, DELORES C., 79
Summerfield - Delores C. Farris, 79, of Summerfield, Florida, passed away on February 18, 2018 following an extended illness. She died at home in the early morning hours, surrounded by the presence of her family and their love.
Delores was born on January 30, 1939 to the late George and Opal (Jones) Campbell in Cedar Grove, West Virginia. She was the devoted wife of Anthony Farris, Jr. for 52 wonderful years. Together, they were blessed in life with a strong marriage of love and friendship.
Throughout her life, Delores gained a heart-warming sense of fulfillment by doing something good for others. She shared much of her spare time serving the needy and giving back to the world community. As a service-minded individual, Delores was an active member of Lions International for over 45 years at the local and multiple district levels. She first joined Lionism as a member of the Aston Lioness Club (PA) and later converted her years of service as the first female Lion in the Kirkland Havertown Lions Club in PA. After moving to Florida for retirement, Delores continued her membership in Lionism and served as President of her local club, Zone Chairman, District Governor and Past Council Chairman. With her additional commitment, she was awarded various International Leadership Award, the International Presidents Award, Key Awards, 100% District Governor Award, The Guiding Lion Award, The Florida Foundation for the Blind Grand Lion, Crusader Award (District and Multiple District Levels), the Pilot Award (District and Multiple District Levels), the Lyonell Lyndsey Award, as well as the Lions Club Progressive MELVIN JONES Fellowship award.
Delores' passing will bring a void to those who were touched by her good deeds. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Farris, Jr.; daughters, Cindee Ann McKinney of Summerfield, FL, Shelly Lee Preast (Richard) of Gaulley Bridge, WV, Wendy Mangold (Raymond) of Newark, DE, Christy Ann Morello (Anthony) of Bel Air, MD, Tony Lynn Farris-Miller (the late Robert) of Summerfield, FL; and sons, William Anthony Farris (Shelly) of Newark, DE and Jeffrey Thomas Farris (Riza) of Summerfield, FL. She had 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She also had one sister, Sally Ann Gustafson of Charleston, WV.
Delores is preceded in death by her son, Michael Edwin Farris.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Belleview, Florida in Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hiers-Baxley funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, Florida. Should friends desire, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Florida Lions Conklin Center for the Multi Handicap Blind, 405 White St., Daytona Beach, FL 32114 or Florida Foundation for the Blind, 8804 41st Street, N., Pinellas Park, FL 33782-5824.
