Barbara A. Mitchell

Barbara A. Mitchell, 80, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in Akron, Ohio.

She was the beloved wife of Harry Mitchell of Canton. Barbara graduated from East High School in 1950 and has been a lifelong resident in the Akron/Canton, Ohio area. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Margaret (Gibbs) Malinak. On February 4, 1950 she married Harry Mitchell and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together.

She worked most of her life with her family at Mitchell Piping, Inc. and Scott Process Systems, Inc. where her involvement and dedication contributed to the success of the family businesses. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, swimming, playing golf and spending time with her friends, family, children and grand children.

Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Mitchell; father, Jack Malinak and mother, Margaret (Gibbs) Malinak. She is survived by her husband, Harry Mitchell; son, Scott (Pamela) Mitchell; grandsons, Scott (Rachel) Mitchell II and Nicholas Mitchell; granddaughters, Tara (Rob) Palladino, Melissa, Maria, and Michelle Mitchell; great-grandson, Jay Butler; great-granddaughter, Ava Mitchell.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

I give you this one thought to keep –

I am with you still I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

I am the sweet, uplifting rush

of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone –

I am with you still – in each new dawn.

Thank you for everything you have given us and will continue to give us. You will never know how much we love you.

At Barbara's request, there will be no funeral or burial service. A memorial service in celebration of Barbara's life will be announced by the family at a later time.
